This project involves upgrades to the Highway Department break room for hurricane resistance. The initiative was to attain the highest resistance that could be achieved to temporarily shelter Highway staff during a storm event. By replacing the roof with a standing seam metal roof, upgrading the structure, and installing hurricane shutters and doors, the structural engineer's objective was a CAT 5 windspeed of 190 mph and this was achieved.
