This project scope consisted of a renovation and new addition to the existing Old City Hall/Public Works building, located in Seminole, Florida in the City Park. The program scope included a total of 14,932 GSF for a new Community Center with a rental room to seat 250 occupants, plus a commercial kitchen, chair and table storage, as well as gang toilets. The Seminole Historical Society also has program elements in this facility including display space, gift shop, reception, small office, library, break room, and boardroom. A facility office was provided that can double as a Community Policing Office.
A significant portion of the City Hall was demolished and rebuilt new for the Community Center addition. The interiors were replaced with all new partitions, doors and finishes. All building systems - including mechanical, plumbing, fire protection and electrical systems - were replaced with new equipment. There is a new A/V and kitchen equipment package as well. Sustainability was an important aspect of this project including among other strategies a solar photovoltaic panel system for the roof. A building hardening for the existing envelope occurred to update all walls, windows, storefronts, doors and a reroof to current hurricane code.
